How to Write a Comment
- Sign into SIS. In the top right-hand corner should be a button that says “Official Notes.” Click this.
- Click “Compose Official Note” to write a comment.
3. Type in the student name and they will show up. Double check to be sure you have the correct student.
4. Choose “Comment” in the drop down menu and type what you would like to say.
5. Click “send” when you are ready!
Sending the Same Comment to Multiple Students
- Sign into SIS. In the top right-hand corner should be a button that says “Official Notes.” Click this.
- Click “Compose Official Note” to write a comment.
- Type in the student name and they will show up. Double check to be sure you have the correct student. When sending to more than one student, type additional names next to their name. Note that you can also type a class section.
- To have the note directed at the student in particular, click “Nickname.” Where the brackets show up with [Student Nickname], that student’s preferred name will be in the comment that goes to them. If the student does not have a Nickname in SIS, the First Name will be inserted instead.
5. Choose “Comment” in the drop down menu and type what you would like to say.
6. Click “send” when you are ready!
Writing Comments from the Gradebook
An alternate way to send comments is to send them through the gradebook. You can do this by following the steps below.
- Open the gradebook.
- Click the three dots next to the student’s name that you wish to send a comment to.
- Click “Compose Official Note”
4. Type in the student name and they will show up. Double check to be sure you have the correct student.
5. Choose “Comment” in the drop down menu and type what you would like to say.
6. Click “send” when you are ready!
