Hello Everyone,
Wifi Networks
As you log into and out of Wifi networks, your computer keeps a record of these networks so that it can easily look for those that you use often. This can lead to automatically connecting to networks that you don't prefer to connect to. The good news is that you can remove and reorder this list of networks.
Burke vs Burke-Teacher
If you have ever connected to the "Burke" wifi network, it is in this list of previous networks and it may be higher up in the hierarchy so that your computer would auto connect to "Burke" before "Burke-Teacher".
Let's fix that!
1. Go to your System Preferences app.
2. Click on the Network option.
3. Click on the Wifi option in the left-hand column.
4. Click the Advanced button in the lower right-hand corner.
5. You will now be on a Wifi Tab which has a list of Prefered Networks.
6. Remove: You can click on any network to highlight it and use the minus button below the list to remove it. (this does not remove logins/passwords for the wifi network from your computer, just its preferred status).
7. Reorder: You can also click-and-drag a network up and down the list. This allows you to keep a wifi network, but change its preference over another network, (hint hint: Burke-Teacher vs Burke).
8. Clean up: If you go to this list, you may find many networks that you previously connected to, such as hotels, friends, etc. Although being in the list is not harmful, it might be a good idea to remove those you don't recognize or plan on using again: click and delete.
As always, you if you need assistance or have a question, please don't hesitate to contact the tech team.
Enjoy!
