Update Master Schedule

Updated:

SIS > Academics > Scheduling > Daily Schedule Calendar > Master Schedule > High School or Middle School

Find the day you want to change. Click Edit

If you have to cancel an entire day:

Put the announcement in (in either High School or Middle School depending on which school level you are working on), then under Edit All Schedule Sets, check the box for No Classes (Bump)

To change the times for the periods that meet on a particular day:

Unfortunately, this software is just clunky. So you will have to be patient and methodical to make the changes stick and make sure they are correct. You may have to Save multiple times and/or go back and start over. Stick with it.

Note that time periods cannot overlap, e.g. if 5th period ends at 2:10, 6th period must begin at 2:11. Also keep an eye out for AM and PM when you make changes. The default is AM and that can easily cause problems if you're not careful.

Usually, for late starts or delayed openings, the first three periods will be:

  • 1st - 10:00-10:50
  • 2nd - 10:51-11:40
  • 3rd - 11:41-12:30

Subsequent periods will be the same as a normal day.

If you get confused or need to set the times back to the way they were before you made changes, click the *Reset link to the right of the meeting time.

Go to the day you want to edit. Edit the times for the periods that need to change. Change for all instances of the period (sometimes the same period is there multiple times for different type of activities).

You can also cancel out meetings by checking the box under Cancel on the right.

Save and make sure the changes took effect and no extra periods randomly were added.

If you see an extra meeting that shouldn't be there, click Remove. Then after that click Cancel to really get rid of the extra meeting time.

Sometimes it doesn't work completely right the first time, and you need to Save after each item you change.

At the bottom, you can add meetings such as a special assembly or grade homeroom. To know what to add and whether or not to add it to HS or MS, find a day when that same activity happens somewhere else in the Master Schedule and do it the same way. In other words, if you're not sure what it should look like. Stop what you're doing, and look at how it's set up another day and then go back to the day you were editing. In general, it's a good idea to use a day that works as a template for the changes you want to make.

Save & Exit and check again in the Master Schedule view.

Then make the same changes in the Middle School. Change the School Level from the Master Schedule view, and then repeat the steps.

Note that in the Middle School, you won't see Lunch, Clubs, or Assembly b/c they are scheduled only in the High School and then we just enroll all the MS kids and teachers in them.
