Set up Gmail on your mobile device

Updated:

iOS

The preferred way to use Gmail on your iPhone is by installing the free official app from the App Store. When you set it up, you must log in with your full username (aguy123@burkeschool.org) and password.

By tapping the three lines at the top-left of the client, you can access your folders.

If you then tap the triangle next to your username, you can add and switch between additional Google accounts — this way if you have a personal Google account, you can be logged into both it and your school account simultaneously.

At the bottom of the screen, click:

At that screen, click

A screen should show:

Here you can log in to your account.

You can also use the built-in Mail app, though it lacks some Gmail functionality. To configure it, go to the Settings app, then tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars." Tap Add Account, choose Google, and put in your full name, username, password, and a helpful description.

Once you have configured your Burke Google account in the system, you can also sync contacts and Google Calendar with your phone. You can use Apple's apps and Gmail.app simultaneously, though data may take some time to synchronize between systems.

Android

  1. Touch the Settings > Add account > Google to add your account.

  2. Select Existing and enter your full burkeschool email address as your username and your password.

  3. Touch OK to agree to the Terms of Service. The device will sign in to your domain. This process may take a few minutes.
  4. After completing these steps, you should see Account sign-in successful. You can choose which services you want to sync to the device.

That's it! You can now use Google Apps from your Android. Just launch Gmail, Google Calendar, or whichever app you want to use.

And going forward, you can change which services can sync with Google Apps on your device at any time by going to Settings > Google > touch your account.
