Attendance for classes must be taken in SIS. It is recommended that teachers take attendance within the first five minutes of class.
To take attendance in SIS:
1. Navigate to your "Schedule and Performance" page in SIS.
2. For each class you have that day, there will be a grey box containing the words "Take Attendance" as below. (The box does not appear until the day of the class). If the school knows prior to a class that a student will be absent, that information may already be recorded here.
3. If all students are present, you can click on the triangle to the right of "Take Attendance" until a box saying "All Present" appears, as below. Hover your mouse over "All Present," click to record attendance, and you are done.
FOR OFFICE HOURS, PLEASE RECORD STUDENTS AS "ALL PRESENT."
4. If a student is missing, click on "Take Attendance" and a screen like the one below appears. Use the drop down menu to record a student absent or late. The only choice you have to record an absence is "Absent-No Excuse." Please use this if a student is not in class. The reason for the student's absence will be sorted out by the Dean of Students. The same thing with happen with "Late - Unexcused." If you know why a student is absent or late, you have the option to enter a comment in the comment space. Click "Save & Close" when you are done.
5. Once your attendance is recorded, the box will turn green, and the number of absent students will appear on the right. You can edit your attendance once it is recorded. Students who are late should arrive to class with a late slip.
If you forget to take your attendance, you are able to enter it later if you navigate to the proper day in "Schedule & Performance."
