Projecting from an iPad using AirPlay and an AppleTV

Updated:

You can use AirPlay to send audio and video content from your devices to Apple TVs at Burke.

  1. Make sure your device is on Burke wireless — ideally Burke-FacStaff.
  2. Swipe down from the top right (from the battery or wireless icon)
  3. Tap Screen Mirroring

  1. Tap the name of the device you want to AirPlay to. Burke Apple TVs are named by room.
  2. Select Mirroring to send video instead of just audio.
  3. You might also want to turn on the rotation lock so that the iPad doesn't flip around or reorient while you are projecting.
  4. Another tip is to go to Settings > Display & Brightness and turn the Auto-Lock to Never so that the iPad doesn't go to sleep while you are projecting. Just remember to turn it back to 15m or less when you're done so that it does lock during the rest of your day. Good security, folks!

The Security Code

When you attempt to connect to an Apple TV, your device will ask you for an Airplay code, and a four-digit code will appear on the screen for the Apple TV (as on the right below). Enter the code into the dialogue box, and you will be connected to the Apple TV.

To share the screen with a student or another teacher, you will first have to disconnect from the Apple TV.

When you are done, go back to the Control Center and set AirPlay back to your device instead of the Apple TV so that you don't accidentally project your personal work.
