Undo Send in Gmail

Updated:

Sometimes you accidentally hit "Send" on an email a little early, and you curse the gods and silently wish that there were a way to retrieve it from the server before it reaches its recipient. As a matter of fact, Gmail's "Undo Send" feature does just that. Here's how to enable it.

  1. Log into your Gmail account and click the Settings gear in the upper right (below your email address).
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on the Labs tab.
  4. Locate the "Undo Send" feature on the list and enable it.
  5. Once again, click on the Settings gear and choose Settings.
  6. On the General Settings tab, scroll down until you see "Undo Send:" in the list.
  7. Check the box to enable the feature and choose a window of time within which you can cancel your email.

From now on, right after you send an email, you'll see the following message at the top of your screen for the duration of the time window you chose.
