- Open QuickTime Player.
- Go to File > New Screen Recording.
- You can click the little downward triangle in the control box on the right to increase the quality of the video, and other options. Hit the red circle to get options about recording.
- It will give you the option to click to record the entire screen or to drag the cursor to record only part of the screen
- Talk to the computer and click the black button on the top left to stop recording
- Close the file. It will prompt you to save it.
- Change the title and/or location as you wish.
- Voila.
You can also then use this video and have it accompany a slide show presentation (like PowerPoint) if you want to show notes along with your lecture.
- Open your slide show and position and size it wherever you want on your screen.
- Open QuickTime Player.
- Open your video file. Position and size it wherever you want on your screen.
- In QuickTime, go to File > New Screen Recording.
- Once again, you can click the triangle in the right of the controller to change various options.
- When you click Record, you'll be able to drag a box around both the movie of your lecture and your slide show. Or you can click anywhere and you'll get a movie of the entire screen.
- Then click Start Record and just advance the slide show manually as you listen to your own lecture.
- Then you have your movie of a lecture accompanied by a slide show!
