How to View your Labquest from a Chromebook Browser or Any Other Browser

The Vernier LabQuest hardware can interface with the Chromebooks or any other internet browsing device, so that you may view and manipulate the date from the LabQuest from the browser.

To accomplish this turn on the LabQuest and login to the Chromebook.

 

  1. Open the browser, but leave the address field blank.
  2. Tap the house shaped button in the lower right corner of the screen to go to the main menu.
  3. Tap the Connections button in the main menu.
  4. Tap the gear in the upper righthand corner of the connection settings.
  5. This will open network settings. To the right of the word network: you should see a signal strength monitor, the words BurkeNet and a set of 4 numbers separated by periods. EG 192.168.0.15 
  6. Copy this string of numbers and periods into the address field of the Chromebook exactly.
  7. Hit Enter and wait for the application to load. This may take some time. 
  8. When the application has loaded, you will see an empty graph and a Play/Stop button in the upper left. 
  9. Click the Play button to begin recording data from your device and click it again button to stop recording.
  10. To export data, click the button in the upper right with an arrow going into a line.
  11. You can either export the data themselves or save the graph of the data as an image. The exported file will be placed in the Chromebook's downloads folder.

Note: In the upper right hand corner of the screen, there is also a download button that will allow you to download your data as a csv file suitable for excel.
