Opening Pages Files

Updated:

Pages is Apple's word processor. However, we don't own it. So if you have to open a .pages file, the computer will tell you there's nothing to be done.

This is a lie!

  1. Change the extension from ".pages" to ".zip". The computer will probably ask you if you're sure — you are.
  2. Open the .zip file. You should now have a folder with the same name as the original file.
  3. Open this folder, then open the Quicklook folder within it.
  4. You should see a Preview.pdf file that can be opened and printed — it's identical to the original document, albeit not editable.
