How to use Logger and Labquest Hardware

Updated:

Logger Pro is a data collection  suite that can interface with the LabQuest 2 data collection devices This guide will teach you how to have the two interface with each other.

  1. Turn on the LabQuest 2
  2. Use Self Service to download and install Logger Pro on the computer.
  3. Start up Logger Pro. It should look something like this:

   4. The area within the red rectangle in the upper left is the status area. It says No Device Connected when the LabQuest is not yet connected. Once the LabQuest is connected to the computer via USB the status will switch to a measurement taken from the LabQuest. For example:

Note that it is not currently collecting that data. Also, Logger is now in full control of the LabQuest and so the hardware buttons on the LabQuest should not be used; use the controls in Logger instead.

   5. Once you are ready to begin collecting data, go to Experiment -> Start Collection:

  6. Logger will begin collecting and plotting data from the LabQuest. When you have finished collecting data, go toExperiment -> Stop collection

  7.  You now have collected data. To transfer the data to Excel, go to File -> Export As -> CSV:

  8. Now that you have exported your data, you can erase the data from Logger by going to Data -> Clear All Data. If you want to create another data set in addition to the one you just made, go to Data -> New Data Set (shown in red) and follow steps 5-7 again to collect more data:
