When you are in The Finder, there is a very useful menu called Go. If you can't see it, click the Finder icon (the blue happy face) in your dock.
Documents (to go to your personal Documents folder), Applications (where all of the software on the computer lives) and Connect to Server. This last option you'll only need if you're part of Newspaper, the Yearbook, or similar organizations that share some storage on our server.
