There are times when you may need to reset your Wifi settings on your iPad. Resetting your Wifi can help with connection issues around the Burke campus or at home on your iPad, this can be done by following the instructions below.
1. Turn Wifi off
Simply turning off your Wifi and then turning it back on again could solve your Wifi issue. Doing this will make your iPad locate the nearest Wifi access point to get the strongest signal to the network.
- Swipe down from the upper right-hand corner of your iPad to show the Control Center. Click on the Wifi icon
to toggle off Wifi.
- Wait for 10-15 seconds and then click the toggle to turn your Wifi back on.
- Once Wifi reconnects, try to access a website to see if your connection has improved.
If this does not solve your issue, move on to option 2.
2. Reset Your Network Settings
If you reset your network settings, the iPad will clear all information about previous networks you have connected to. This will allow you to select networks and enter passwords as though you have not connected to any Wifi networks you have previously connected to.
If you are using iPadOS 15 or later, tap Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If you're using iOS or iPadOS 14 or earlier, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.
If this does not solve your connection issues, move on to option 3
3. Restart your iPad
Often just simply restarting your device will solve many issues, including a Wifi issue. This could be your first troubleshooting option, but a restart can take a little time to complete and you may wish not to do this during a class.
One way to restart an iPad is as follows:
- Open the Settings app and choose the General option on the left-hand panel.
- Scroll down and click on the "Shut Down" option.
- Slide the toggle to shut down the iPad.
- Wait 10-15 seconds and then hold the top button of the iPad until you see the Apple Logo.
When the iPad has started back up, check your Wifi connection by opening a web browser and visiting a website.
If this does not solve your issue, please move on to option 4.
4. Visit Wan
